HeitechSoft AI Business Solutions’ CEO Tom Heiber Joins Diembassy CEO Dr. Linda PaJoel to Discuss 3 Practical Ways to Adopt AI for Business Use
Tom Heiber of HeitechSoft AI Business Solutions joined Dr. Linda PaJoel, CEO of Diembassy, for an insightful discussion on three practical ways businesses can adopt artificial intelligence to improve operations, enhance productivity, and drive sustainable growth. The interview explored practical approaches organizations can use to move beyond AI awareness and begin implementing AI solutions that address real business challenges.

CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO – September 7, 2026 – As businesses continue to navigate the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Tom Heiber, Founder and CEO of HeitechSoft – AI Business Solutions, says companies do not need to undertake expensive or disruptive transformation projects to begin benefiting from AI.

Tom recently joined Dr. Linda PaJoel, CEO of Diembassy, for an insightful discussion on “3 Practical Ways to Adopt AI for Business Use.” The conversation explored how businesses can move beyond AI hype and identify practical opportunities to use artificial intelligence to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and solve real operational challenges, offering business leaders a grounded approach to moving from AI experimentation to practical implementation.

Heiber founded HeitechSoft in 2004, originally operating as Tom Heiber Consulting, after building a career in software development, business analysis and data analysis. The company was rebranded as HeitechSoft in 2019 and shifted to an AI-first focus following the release of ChatGPT in 2022. Today, the Cambridge, Ontario-based firm works with small and mid-sized businesses across Southwestern Ontario on AI strategy, custom software development, digital transformation and fractional CTO engagements.

One of the central themes of the interview was the misconception that AI adoption necessarily requires large technology budgets, major infrastructure investments or disruptive organizational change.

Heiber argued that the cost of accessing advanced AI capabilities has fallen dramatically, making AI increasingly accessible to smaller businesses.

“If you are doing any kind of project or you’re bringing AI into your business, the cost is greatly reduced compared to the equivalent human resource, plus all the additional benefits that come with it,” Heiber explained during the discussion.

Rather than viewing AI simply as another software subscription, he encouraged business owners to consider where AI can deliver measurable improvements in areas such as productivity, automation, decision-making and operational efficiency.

“Most organizations do not need more AI tools,” Heiber emphasizes. “They need someone who can tell them which problems are worth solving and what the return actually looks like.”

The interview focused on 3 practical AI applications for business use and the first practical application discussed was AI-assisted software development.

Drawing on more than two decades of experience building software, Heiber explained how AI is changing the economics and speed of software development. AI coding systems can now assist with writing code, troubleshooting, testing and developing prototypes, dramatically reducing the amount of time traditionally required to build software.

However, Heiber cautioned that AI does not eliminate the need for experienced technical professionals, particularly when developing complex business systems.

AI-generated software still requires people who understand software architecture, infrastructure, data, security and the underlying business requirements. Without that expertise, businesses risk creating systems that become difficult to maintain or require significant rework.

The second practical application examined was AI-powered recruitment and hiring.

Heiber shared the story behind PaiSLEY, an AI hiring platform developed after HeitechSoft encountered significant challenges screening candidates as demand for its AI services increased.

The traditional process involved reviewing large numbers of resumes, conducting screening calls and manually evaluating candidates. According to Heiber, the process consumed significant time while still failing to consistently identify the candidates the company needed.

Using AI, the company developed a recruitment workflow that can analyze resumes, cover letters, screening responses and video introductions, generating a comprehensive assessment and candidate score.

The interview highlighted a particularly important distinction “AI should support hiring decisions rather than completely replace human judgment.”

Heiber explained that PaiSLEY was designed with a human decision-maker remaining in the process. The system also uses transcripts rather than visual characteristics from candidate introduction videos as part of its analysis, while incorporating safeguards intended to reduce bias.

The platform is now part of HeitechSoft’s product portfolio, with the company describing PaiSLEY as an AI hiring platform designed to help organizations move from large volumes of resumes to interview-ready shortlists more efficiently.

The third approach focused on a challenge that is often overlooked in AI adoption is Education.

According to Heiber, many business owners have encountered AI primarily through tools such as ChatGPT or Google Gemini but have not yet developed a clear understanding of how Artificial Intelligence could fundamentally change their businesses.

He described this as an “imagination gap” the difficulty of envisioning how AI can move beyond answering questions or generating content to transforming actual business processes.

To address this challenge, Heiber launched AIExplained.ca, a training and coaching platform designed to help business owners and teams develop practical AI literacy.

Rather than providing generic instruction, the approach begins by understanding the individual’s existing knowledge, business, industry and current use of AI before developing a tailored learning experience.

The objective is not simply to teach people how to use ChatGPT. It is to help them recognize where AI can be applied within their specific operations and identify opportunities that can produce meaningful business value.

The conversation with Dr. Linda PaJoel highlighted an increasingly important question for businesses, not only whether they should use AI, but where AI can create the greatest practical value.

For SMEs in particular, identifying the right starting point can be challenging. Rather than attempting to implement AI across an entire organization at once, businesses can begin by examining repetitive, time-consuming, costly, or data-intensive processes where automation and AI-assisted workflows can produce measurable improvements.

This practical approach aligns closely with Diembassy’s mission to accelerate the healthy adoption of artificial intelligence worldwide.
