In Game News Puts A Credibility Score On Every Gaming Leak It Publishes

Rumor coverage now carries a five-point source-reliability rating, a named leaker with a track-record assessment, and an explicit statement of what would confirm or disprove the claim

Dhaka, Bangladesh – August 24, 2026 – In Game News, an independent gaming publication covering PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, mobile and esports, has begun attaching a visible source-reliability rating to every leak and rumor it publishes – a five-point score assessing the track record of the person or outlet the claim originates from, displayed on the article itself rather than buried in a policy page.

Each rumor story also carries a “Rumor Report” format label, a “Developing report” status flag, a clean separation of what has been officially confirmed from what has not, and – unusually – an explicit statement of the condition that would settle the question.

A recent example: covering a leaked price and release date for a limited-edition Xbox Series X anniversary console, In Game News attributed the claim to a named leaker with an established track record, rated the source’s reliability at four out of five, noted that Microsoft had officially confirmed only a general launch window, and stated plainly that the details would remain unconfirmed until pre-orders opened. A reader reaches all of that before the second paragraph.

“Every gaming site runs leaks. Almost none of them tell you how much to trust the leaker,” said Sakib Khandokar Meraz, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of In Game News. “‘Reportedly’ does an enormous amount of work in this industry. It’s a word that lets you publish a claim without ever taking a position on whether it’s true. So we take the position – we name the source, we rate their track record, and we say what would prove us wrong.”

The gap the system targets is a structural feature of games coverage. A datamine or a forum post becomes an “insider report,” which becomes an aggregated headline, which becomes an assumption – and somewhere in that chain the original sourcing stops being visible. Readers are left to weigh claims with no information about where they came from or how often that origin has been right before.

“The part that matters most is stating what would disprove the claim,” Meraz said. “If a rumor can’t be wrong, it isn’t reporting. Putting the falsifying condition in the article is what stops speculation from quietly hardening into fact three aggregation cycles later.”

The reliability ratings sit inside a broader labeling system applied across the site. Every article displays a format label alongside its category and a UTC timestamp – “News Brief,” “Release Brief,” “Rumor Report,” “Deep Explainer,” “Quick Guide,” “Industry Report,” “Quick Update” and “Review Brief” – so a reader can distinguish a confirmed announcement from an explainer from a piece of speculation before reading a word of it.

In Game News also publishes its editorial process openly, including a corrections commitment under which errors are fixed as soon as identified and significant factual corrections carry a note recording the change. The publication’s four stated principles are Accuracy First, Real Context, Player-First and No Fake Leaks.

The outlet additionally discloses something most publishers omit: that automated systems assist with topic discovery, source classification, fact extraction, drafting support and publishing, with editorial responsibility retained by the In Game News team.

“We publish where automation sits in our workflow because a transparency claim you apply selectively isn’t one,” Meraz said. “I would rather be argued with about what we actually do than be caught not saying it.”

In Game News operates independently and is not owned by any game publisher, platform holder or media group. Founded in 2025, it covers PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, mobile and esports, and distributes via RSS, Atom and a dedicated news sitemap.
